The short montage was made by another Fordham University student, Brendan Banks! A couple of weeks before the show I sent him some clips that I really liked and that I thought portrayed the Villain I was trying to posses in my collection and Brendan knocked it out of the park. When I saw the montage for the first time I had chills because it was exactly what I wanted! He did such a great job and truly put the icing on the cake for my scene!
Check out the video below and you can also see some of his other projects too!
When I first sketched this dress out, my mom told me it was going to look like something "Snooki" from the Jersey Shore would wear, but I proved her wrong. The dress was classic yet sexy at the same time, with the front fully covered, while the back was completely exposed.
I'm doing a small photo shoot with my girls on Eddies/Keating Steps/ parading around the Bronx on Wednesday, April 28th, if you want to catch a peek! They will be shot by my friend Dan!Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414498940880148863.post-74881946126767086532010-04-22T11:28:00.000-04:002010-04-22T11:28:20.806-04:00Article In The Ram!!In this weeks The Ram for Fordham University is a great article about the show!!! Its really nothing but good feedback from the reporter and from the attendees! Vice President Molly McLoone [who's blog you can see here] and myself both got quoted in the article!

Take a look!

It was such an honor designing a collection for this foundation AND for this club, especially because this group of people worked so hard to pull of something truly magical.Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414498940880148863.post-4561317742316421252010-04-19T12:42:00.002-04:002010-04-19T18:08:14.270-04:00MUAH-HA-HA!!The FFP Fashion Show was AMAZING. What an exciting experience. I really didn't know I could be so nervous about something until 5 minutes before my girls walked out on the runway.

So I got to the Fordham University Rose Hill Gym at 2:30pm day of the show and immediately started doing hair and make-up on my girls. My sister did the make-up where she lined the girls eyes with thick black liner and then went over that with white liner. All the girls wore dark purple lipstick as well. I did most of the girls hair, which was poufed up on top, with slicked back sides and teazed pony tails. I'm so proud of this collection because of the idea that it was a complete family process down to every last detail.

Here are only a couple of pictures from a mobile phone because I haven't gotten my photos yet, but ENJOY!

I feel so accomplished and proud of this collection. I've spend the last 3 months making the pieces for this show and when it came down to it, I wouldn't change one piece. The best part was that all of models got soooo into being evil and walked at the exact same pace. The show came together perfectly because of all of them. They really listened to my advice on walking, not smiling, and really FEELING like a villain.

AHHH! We had a dress rehearsal last night and it went realllllllly well! On Tuesday I had a fitting and my music wasn't working with the theme I am going for [Villains], so I had to switch it up a little bit, but now it is killer!

I need to go over to the gym asap and help set up for the show, then go to my 1 o'clock class, then head back to the gym from 2:30pm to show time! A lot needs to get done before 7pm tonight, but I have not a doubt in my mind that the show will be great!

Hope you can make it and...

Welcome to the Madhouse.Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414498940880148863.post-19756484024988697272010-04-12T10:23:00.000-04:002010-04-12T10:23:48.934-04:00DONE-ZO!I have officially finished all 15 pieces of my Villains collection with 5 days to spare! I even made myself something to wear for the show :) My mom and I put this past weekend to good use by doing last minute things, such as hook-and-eye closures, hems, alterations, etc. Obviously I didn't make my Easter deadline but having some days to dedicate solely to fittings and finishing touches is a nice feeling.

Over the past 2 weeks I have spoke with Brendan, the montage coordinator, who is making a video to play before my scene of movie clips of certain villains that inspired my collection, such as Ursula, Maleficent, and the Evil Queen. I also met with the DJ, Richie, and we went over songs and the order for my scene. Everything seems to be in good shape, it's just getting all of my girls on the same schedule to have a complete practice and fitting.

Sorry, no picture this time! You'll just have to wait until the show on Friday.Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414498940880148863.post-51481395855169454762010-04-01T12:22:00.000-04:002010-04-01T12:22:39.418-04:00First Fitting! So, I had my first fitting on Sunday with my models and it was better than imagined! There are very little alterations that I need to make to the dresses and other than that, everything else is looking really good on my girls! I had them try on the pieces that I chose for them and then took polaroid pictures with the accessories to have an idea of what looks good with certain pieces.
I found it on a blog today and had to stop and take a second look at this adorable, yet so clever little accessory. Maison Martin Margiela has just come out with this clutch made out of smashed pieces of reflectors, yes reflectors, those things that your mom made you put on your bike when you were little, so that people would see you in the dark. Who thinks of that! Only in the fashion industry would such an idea be praised!

The reflector pieces are attached in a mosaic pattern to a rather simple leather clutch. It's hard to tell if the pieces were actually smashed up or cut to fit perfectly onto the clutch, but honestly, I don't care, this thing screams adorable! This will add sparkle to any outfit, one that wants to get noticed of course ;)Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414498940880148863.post-33976751963410408422010-03-21T21:18:00.001-04:002010-03-21T21:19:28.796-04:0012 LOOKS DOWN... 3 TO GOSorry, I know it's been awhile, but I had SERIOUS spring fever. The weather has been so nice!

Anyway, spring break is over and I completed 5 more looks! Just in one day, my mom and I made a dress, a pair of pants, and a vest. This officially means that all I have left to make is a dress, one more tulle skirt, and a cape (that will be worn by a 'special guest.')

Yesterday, a camera crew from my sisters production studio stopped by to film me and my mom constructed some pieces for a documentary of my lead up to the fashion show to post on this blog after the show! The crew is also coming to film the show, which I am really excited about. I will be able to show it along with my portfolio.

Here are some pictures of some new stuff that I have been working on!

This is a dress made out of the green crepe fabric that my mom found in a Hackensack fabric store. It matches the green tulle skirt perfectly. Here I was just making the back straps and pinning them onto the form for measurements. It doesn't quite fit the form because it's smaller to fit my model.
This is the first dress that I have made using the teal speckled fabric. I think the mixture of the leather and teal print looks phenomenal. Again, I'm still working on the construction on the straps, but the base and all is finished! I always leave the finishing touches for last, just in case I need to tailor them to fit my models.
This is just one side of a pair of pants that are now finished. They are made out of the same green crepe as the dress above. They are high-waisted and baggy in the thigh/knee area and then get skinner towards the ankle. I'm pairing it with a black corset that I have hanging around my closet. Don't you just love, love, love this color?
I'm running out of room on this rack!!! Here are all 12 of my looks. That pink and black striped piece is one of the pieces that I finished over break and is a party flare skirt with a black vest. The collar of the vest is made out of the pink and black striped fabric and stands seriously tall. It is quite the colorful collection, no?
What is Market? For the Sales department of a fashion corporation, Market is the week after all of the fashion shows are over and the collections have been shown to the world where a schedule is made up of appointment, after appointment, with buyers of stores to show the collection in a more up close and personal environment. For fashion interns, like myself and my roommate Kristin, Market means being stuck in a closet with the dimension of 5' by 6'.
Here are the pictures to prove it.
That is Kristin and I stuck in our little closet. We did this for 4 days! 4 DAYS PEOPLE. During the appointments, the sales directors give us looks of clothing from the showroom that we have to dress the model with in a certain order. On a good day, there are 3 appointments at a time, each wanting to see different looks. So including the model, that makes 3 people stuck in this closet with clothes being thrown all over the place.

If you want to work in the fashion industry you have to start somewhere, and for me and Kristin, that somewhere is this closet.Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414498940880148863.post-46016142595792793462010-03-08T14:46:00.001-05:002010-03-08T17:24:49.016-05:002010 Oscar's: Best Dressed! The 2010 Oscar's took place last night in Hollywood at the Kodak Theater and ABC almost didn't allow people to watch it... I officially have 8 pieces done and the dress that I finished today actually took my breath away. FFP held model practice earlier where I fitted three outfits on girls and surprisingly, they all fit!! That makes my job much easier.

My mom also found the perfect lime green crepe fabric that matches the lime green tulle! I had been looking for a fabric like it for weeks and she went into one store and found it within seconds. I would seriously be nothing without her. I'm adding two more printed fabrics to the collection as well. One, a thick black and pink striped stretch cotton, and the other is a teal and black speckled cotton. The collection is getting even more colorful that I imagined and I can't wait to get to work on it and have it grow over Spring Break!!!
I've actually updated this dress since I took this picture, but I've added purple tulle inside these two layers of leather on the shoulders. It fits my model (aka my roomie Kristin) like a glove! :)

I'm so excited to continue to work on this collection. Watching it grow on my rack is making me more and more anxious to show people the collection, but sorry, I have to keep the best of it under wraps. I do want some of it to be a surprise!Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414498940880148863.post-73348307855796692882010-03-07T22:24:00.002-05:002010-03-08T18:21:33.204-05:00HOBOKEN, NO JOKIN'!Ahhhh, what a fabulous weekend.

I was finally old enough to legally attend Hoboken St. Patrick's Day festivities and boy was it one hell of a day. At 10AM, we started the day off at the bar Lana where we met up with some of my sisters friends from college. Then made our way over to meet up with some of my friends who I graduated high school with. We party hopped for a couple of hours, where I marked my territory with green chalk on every brick wall I saw.
I love you and all, but a bedazzled lobster head piece? Seriously? I'm all for the duct tape nippies, but the diamond encrusted crustacean on your head has got to go. And what is that yellow claw you're holding? Clearly, there is no reason to continue to ask questions as to why GaGa makes the fashion decisions she does. I do have to give her credit though, I would sure love to pick her brain for a couple minutes.

She wore this craziness immediately following her final concert date of her "Monster Ball Tour" in London, England last night. Funny part is, she actually tried hiding her face from the following paparazzi as if someone, other than herself, would casually walk around in this attire.

There are only 50 days until the Fordham University 'Fashion For Philanthropy' Fashion Show!! So far, I have 6 pieces done and ready to be fitted on models. That leaves me with a lot more work to do (almost 15 pieces left) and of course to add to my stress MIDTERMS are coming up. Right now FFP is working on transforming the Rose Hill gymnasium into a fairy tale wonderland with handmade decorations! I'm so impressed with the team effort of the club this year. There are so many people supporting this production and I'm very excited to show my support for the this club and it's cause!

I'm heading home this weekend to continue working on my pieces so I'll absolutely update after the weekend to show my progress :) Until then.... happy 'hopeful' snowday!Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414498940880148863.post-35485642833394303752010-02-21T18:59:00.001-05:002010-02-21T19:01:04.151-05:00Derek Lam Fall/Winter 2010!Derek Goes West...

I had the opportunity to attend the Derek Lam Fall/ Winter 2010 Fashion Show during New York Fashion Week on Tuesday, February 16, and it was absolutely stunning. The show took place at Capitale` in SoHo, which is an old bank turned event space on Bowery. Entering into the space, I was in awe of the grand ballroom with huge columns and coffered ceilings. The atmosphere was beautiful, and this was only where the show was taking place.

The show begins and glittery white confetti falls from the middle of the runway, giving the effect of snow fall.

After a colorful printed Spring/Summer 2010 collection, Derek chose to use a more muted palette of colors but still keep his effortlessly chic style with beautiful coats and use of, my favorite, leather! Being inspired by cowgirls, there was fringe, chin-straps, and chunky platform booties.

Being an intern for Derek Lam Co., I was able to actually have a seat at the show and got to be an observer rather than a model dresser. After the show we went back to the office and merchandised the collection, so I actually had my hands on the clothing that I just watched go down the runway in New York Fashion Week.

Here's a video that I took of the Finale walk and some of my favorite pieces from the collection!!!
This is the first year the event will be based out of New York's Lincoln Center, instead of it's famous Bryant Park location. I'm SUPER pumped because I get to go to the Derek Lam Show on Tuesday, February 16th, and be a viewer, rather than a dresser! I've seen the collection and it is RAD. I'll post some of my favorite Fall/Winter 2010 collections as the shows proceed during the week!

Also, Taylor Lautner (a.k.a. Jacob Black)(a.k.a. one of those guys from twilight) turned 18 today! Happy birthday Taylor.

Sorry all you Edward fans, TEAM JACOB!
The cause of death was suicide leading many to believe he took his life because of his mother's death last week.

I was in absolute devastated shock when I heard this news. McQueen was an inspiration to fashion designers all over the world, including myself, because of his unique talent and extraordinary creativity. If you have never seen a McQueen collection, you are missing out. His runway shows are a complete theatrical event with dramatic headpieces, towering heels, and extravagantly tailored clothing. Many would call it just plain bizarre, but it is that 'edge' that maintains a designer's stern position in the fashion industry and McQueen was one who I believed would be one of the last standing.

One of his lines, McQ, was set to show at New York Fashion week today but was cancelled because of the tragedy.

In loving memory of the designer, I have put together some photos of my favorite pieces from his last few collections.

Her shoes were adorable! I admired them during the whole meeting. I also loved the oversized scarf. She looked so comfortably chic for having to come to the meeting straight from work.
Simply put, I would wear this outfit. I love her green layered dress paired with the blazer. And of course, matching with my favorite clothing color, black, is always a plus!

Well done girls!

I hope to catch more campus walkers around the Fordham area!!Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2414498940880148863.post-81041897901644724392010-02-09T16:24:00.001-05:002010-02-09T16:31:50.300-05:00Daily Rihanna PostPictures surfaced today from Rihanna's set of her new music video for "Rude Boy." AWESOME SONG off of her album "Rated R." The video is shot by Melina Matsoukas, who also directed her video "Hard." The video is scheduled to debut on February 11, 2010 and I'm counting down the minutes.

In the "Rude Boy" video, Rihanna is pictured on a zebra with balloon hair? Whaa? I don't really expect anything less from her though. She also is pictured with long hair-- I have to say, the long hair just doesn't represent where she is at career and life-wise right now. I'm loving the still of her with the yellow stripped pants and the watch, made out of watches!

RiRi was interviewed by Daily Mail, where she stated "A lot of my videos are really dark and edgy and tough, 'Rude Boy' is more playing along the lines from my roots." FYI: Rihanna is from the country of Barbados.

I'm so anxious to see this video because it is one of my favorite songs off of her new album!! I also can't wait to see what she wears. Pretty much I have a full fledge girl crush on this chick.

Yes, this is very unrelated to fashion but it is one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me.

I attended a RHCP concert in October of 2006 and while my friends and I were tailgating a camera crew came up to interview a guy that was parked next to us. My friends, Alyx, Gemma, and myself decided to creep up behind him... Look at about 1:05 of the video below to see the outcome.

Red Hot Chili Pepper's Snow (Hey Oh) Music Video

After shooting the footage, the crew had us sign some paper work so they would be able to use the footage in, what they told us would be a DVD of the concert. A couple of months later, a friend of mine sent me an email saying "You might want to check this out..." with the link attached.

Never felt so cool in my life.Alyssa Carnazzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07319863343031563415noreply@blogger.com0
